If anybody's looking to stock up on some great filters at a very cheap price, RockAuto has Motorcraft FL822 oil filters for $2.45 each on clearance. These filters are made by Purolator to Ford's specifications. You can see an FL822 cut open in this thread at Bob Is The Oil Guy.

Nice!

Plus, Motorcraft filters have anti-drainback valves.

Nearly every oil filter today has an ADBV.

But not all are the same. Motorcraft filters are known to quiet startup knocking/ticking in Ford's modular V8s as well as other engines.

Certainly, because the Motorcraft filters specified for most Ford engines have silicone anti-drainback valves which are better than their nitrile counterparts found in cheaper filters such as Fram ExtraGuard, Purolator Classic, NAPA Silver, etc...

The MC FL822 has a nitrile anti-drainback valve. Nitrile can become brittle and hard with extended exposure to heat and thus may not seal as well as silicone, which remains pliable throughout the filter's lifetime.
