OK, I remember float (I think) talking about a setup w/ tstat for the oil and radiator style cooler, but I can't find the thread. So float and anyone else, throw your thoughts in here.

It seems my OEM oil cooler is working as an oil cooker - I was hoping by going to good synth vs dino it would reduce the problem of oil going bad and boiling away into the blowby. Well, its not boiling away but its still cooking into death. I drove almost 600 miles in the past few days and while I'd had problems lately with the lifters collapsing after 20-30min of driving from lost viscosity while I was heading out of town on the first leg of my trip they collapsed and never came back, I checked the oil and there was plenty of it but it was black as death. Also, the last few hundred miles when turning hard or coming to a stop if the RPM's were under ~1500k I'd lose pressure momentarily

now granted the efans don't kick on until 198F so that doesn't help, and right now I need to replace the relayagain, I've killed it twice (fuse is holding however) or just finish what I started and wire two seperate relay circuits to drive both fans and get my good dual temp switch installed instead of this stock AC fan switch.

I'm switching to dino tomarrow as I was changing it every 4-8 weeks before to avoid this problem and I can't afford to squander away my expensive box of synth until I've resolved this issue.

Now, I'm planning to ditch the oil cooler-turned-heater and go to a thermostat controlled remote cooler setup.

Here's where I'm looking for input: what have ya'll used, the few of you who've done this, where'd you get it and what did it cost, and any pointers on installation placement (i.e. inlet/outlet horizontal or vertical (and top or bottom), etc.

and for the future, search keywords: oil cooler coolers cooling lubrication upgrade upgrades thermostat remote radiator pressure temperature pump

i have all hayden for my lube system (minus the moroso oil accumulator)

you can get a thermal sandwich plate on ebay for $28, or ill forward you the email address of the guy i got my system from (huge oil cooler, thermal plate, dual filter remote filter kit)

where is your oil cooler located?

also, he sells oil coolers with fans already installed on them

ill be posting a review of all of it as soon as i get the engine in and running (working the final details out with Harp for the stainless turbo lines, as soon as they arrive, i can install)

edit> and off the top of my head, it uses 1/2NPT fittings

I've got the OEM UK / JDM auto oil to water cooler, not a radiator type cooler. I figure I'll install the oil cooler in front of the condenser..

Just as tyrannix said, ebay. I'm running a hayden cooler as well. It's actually supposed to be a transmission oil cooler, but I didn't realize that until after I got it. But I think it's of a decent enough size that it's still helping. I may change it later on down the road.

Sean runs the B&M "Import" oil cooler setup from Summit racing.

I am planning on buying this early next week.
