Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. So I have a slight problem, I have a 2008 G37 coupe. Got it used 2 months ago. Car is highly modified (injen cold air intakes + exhaust system). However my neighbors started complaining and called the cops on me (rats :-O). Anyway long story short, I have to LOWER THE SOUND from my exhaust.

Does anyone have a USED G37 OEM EXHAUST FOR SALE? I want to lower the sound level. Someone also recommended I could buy Magnaflow Exhaust System #16820, but I am thinking that is still going to be loud.

Please let me know. I am not driving my car to work nowadays since the cop said that if he hears another complaint, he is going to give me a ticket.

Any advise on how to lower the sound level would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you!

Faraz

lets just trade. =)

I have g35 though so I dont know if it would even work.

honestly, unless it is illegally loud, you dont have to change anything. you mentioned him giving you tickets because of a complaint, but that is discretionary. I know we have some law enforcement here. anything he can do?

As long as you're road legal (off-road pipe in place of CATS is a no-no), you should be fine. Just try and keep the RPMs down in your neighborhood. We have ignorant people that like to rev their honda's with fart cans and show off their stereo's in my neighborhood. That crap doesn't fly with me. I probably wouldn't mind hearing a nice sounding VQ...but I digress.

To answer your question, try looking in the classified section of NICO. Most throw out their OEM systems because they can get damaged upon removal.

I still say your fine if the installed equipment is CARB legal. Tell 'em to turn down their earplugs...

Yeah, unless you are in CA or VA I really wouldn't worry much.

Yeah I'm in California. I have the CARB sticker and everything. However unfortunately the Cops can still give me a ticket based on the noise level. Its based on their discretion. Sucks...

If anyone knows anyone selling OEM exhaust along with piping and everything please let me know!

Guys, stop giving WRONG advice.

There are plenty of cities in CA that have sound laws that basically state "If the sound is loud enough to disturb someone's peace, the police can be called out and a ticket issued".

I don't want to hear about how DUMB that is. How we're communist out here or whatever BS you want to say in reply to my post. It is what it is, I have had modded cars and never had an issue with the police. So in general, it's a very LIVEABLE law.

The G37 is just a loud car to begin with. I just test fitted one yesterday and when the guy did a test run, I could hear him from 1/4 mile down the road with buildings in the way. All he has is a K&N intake. No exhaust mods. The car is LOUD!!!
