hey guys, new guy and turbo newbie here! I just finished installing most of the Nsport Stage I hardware on my 1996 240SX except for the I/C pipings. So far, most of the upgrades the kit called for were pretty manageable and replaceable (going back to stock or buying the replacement parts would be costly but easy). However, making lotsa holes and relocating parts in my engine bay is quite a different matter. It took me a long time to make sure the I/C unit itself was mounted correctly. Therefore, it would be great then if Nsport turbo kit owners out there could give me some specific tips where and how to cut the holes cleanly and which pipe goes where, so that I can avoid making swiss cheese out my car! Diagrams and pics are very much appreciated. Thanks!

Wish I could help you but I don't have mine yet. You will have to update us when you are done though to tell us how much you like it. Goodluck man

Former_240_s14 - No prob. I've been taking pics of the install. I'll post them somewhere when I'm finished. The whole summer was wasted because I got the kit 3+ months after I ordered it, but I got it eventually...so hang in there.

DavEEE - Thanks for the pic. Actually I've been using your car and S13garage's pics as reference from the get go (the S13 and S14 engine bay looks pretty similar - BTW sweet looking car you got there). Nothing against the crew at Nsport but to me, sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words and there installation instructions just doesn't cut it. Emailing them is sometimes a problem too cuz they couldn't answer right away.

Anyway, let me get more specific about my dilemma here. The section of the I/C pipings I'm most interested in are the 2 pipes that run from the passenger side end of the I/C unit all the way to the throttle body. I tried to picture the bottom pipe on my car and it looks like the pipe must be routed underneath the radiator. But, it looks like it's going to hit part of the chassis (or at least rub on a lot of joints that you can't just cut away). Pics of how you routed this pipe plus info on what you did cut/move in this section might prove very useful. Also, let me know if you used a special cutting tool or acetylene torch to cut the holes/joints.

I got an S14, but I believe the difference in that bottom section of the engine bay and the chassis should be subtle. Thanks!

Dave, Never saw a pic of yours yet. I don't know if you've changed anything since, but you may want to put your fan shroud back on or get an electric fan. The FMIC will be blocking a lot of the airflow.

You may also want to put a heat shield on that turbo. Turbonetics has one that is made for the T04 Turbine. Some heat shielding around your Brake M/C is also a good idea. I went as far as putting in some heat shielding into the hoodliner. The heat was killing it even with the shield around the turbine.

Lastly, I see your sig says you got the JWT with 72 set-up? Have you turned up the boost since? Any dyno numbers yet? I wanna see how the T04 compares to the T3/T4 set-ups with good fuel management.

The IC piping between the IC and TB is a tight fit. You can get it in there without cutting any of the frame, but it does touch it (or atleast come REALLY close). You have to remove the fan shroud to make room for the piping. Nothing needs to be cut on the passenger side of the IC except maybe some plastic here and there. On the driver's side, you must cut through the frame to get the piping through (in front of the strut tower). Use a die grinder, or if you have the patience, a dremel. You'll go through a ton of cutting wheels on the dremel though. When you're finished, to neaten it up, you can get some rubber whether stripping from a hardware store to line the inside of the hole u cut.

My car is currently getting rebuilt at a local shop, including the fuel upgrades. So no, I havent gotten any dyno time in. :P We plan on going crazy with exhaust/heat wrap, I already bought an upgraded radiator and dual 12" electric fans as well. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I've got it all covered. :) Thanks for the comments....

Are you rebuilding it because you want stronger internals? Or did something go wrong?

Another thing that works good for chaffe wrap is a piece of vacuum tubing. Since you always seem to have some lying around anyway. Just cut the tubing down the middle place it over the sheetmetal.
