Hi,

I'm looking for suggestions for replacement tires on the '99 Q. I'm really only looking for safety and quiet. I am not a speed demon and I don't care about looks. I live in California and don't ever expect to drive it in snow. Fairly mild climate all year round. I've been happy with Michelin in the past on other cars and see that they have several models that would fit. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, David.

How about a clue as to which wheels?

Sticky tires are safer tires.

Oh, sorry, I meant to include that. They are the original wheels, 16". Everything on the car is stock.

David.

I have run 245/50-16 o my 2000, and some have gone up to 255/50-16.

I would recommend these.

I have them on a lighter car, and they are pretty good. Not PS2, but better than most other non-Tier 1 maximum performance tires.

Or the Goodyear F1 if you have more money to spend.

Tires are important in that they are normally the only part of the car touching the road.

Read the tire sticky in Infiniti General.

I think it's important to remember a few things about tires. People look at treadlife and say "Gee that car has a higher tread life than this one - Isn't that always better?" Yes and no. The higher the treadlife the harder the tire. The harder the tire the rougher and louder the ride. The harder the tire the less "sticky" it is which will decrease performance in terms of going around curves and braking.

With these Qs, you also have to think about the load rating. You might not plan on going all that fast, but probably need the V rating to handle the stress a Q's weight puts on tires.

There's alot more in the thread on tire in Infiniti General.
