IMO, Flowmasters sound funny on anything but a V8, and really don't flow well anyway - When you place anything the path of the exhaust, it reduces the velocity of the gas...and Flowmaster mufflers are designed with baffles, etc...they CAN NOT and DO NOT outflow any striaght through, perforated core muffler like the Magnaflow you mentioned.

I'd do a Magnaflow 3" in, Dual 2.5" out...maybe $95 from Summit or Jegs.

the N1 is a 3&1/3 inch muffler. So it will flow really well and you will see some good gains with it. It might be a little loud but you can get a silencer. ( on the dyno when i took mine out i got a 32hp gain!!!!!)

ditto....i've seen a documented gain of 23hp from an exhaust, but that was in an 89 S13 with the SR20DET motor.....what are you running in yours?......32hp is a little hard to believe, did you extrapolate the 15%-20% loss due to transmission of hp to ground or what?

I'd go with the Magnaflow...it's cheap, straight through with a perforated core...and it looks plain. It's what I'm planning on using!

I hear good things about Warlock mufflers.

Plus they come with caps so you can be quiet on the street, loud on the track/dyno. Yay.

Straight Downpipe = Great sound and best Performance, as long as you can keep it in boost.

I run a 3" downpipe to my Apexi N1, no cats, no nothin, my car smells like a tractor when you're behind it, if you can keep up :)

thats right i did say 32hp, it was a supra but the silencer sure did restrict air flow

I went with the dynomax ultra-flow. I might put a resonator on there too.

I think i might just leave my stock muffler on the car for sleeperness and end the exhaust just before it.

sneaky eh?

Please post your findings. I have a friend that runs a Borla N/A sized exhaust and it is pretty quiet. I would like to get a silent exhaust. My truck is loud as all hell and I can't take it in the Nissan.

Keep stock catback, just run an E-Cutout after the downpipe (very stealth). And if you feel creative add a wide open throttle switch for your cut out. Cheap, and effective, also very quiet.

just get an external wastegate and always be in full boost, that way it dont matter how big you exhaust is.

Ok I did a search on E-Cutout before I asked this but what are you talking about?

This sounds like an interesting setup.

My current exhaust is just holding itself together. The muffler is still the OEM one and is peeling like an onion.

I think an E-Cutout is an electric valve that lets you choose from full exhaust, or basically just the downpipe. Its pretty cool. Do they make them in 3"?

Yes, they sure do, I do not understand how some people around the country are just now hearing about them, we have been using them in Houston for nearly 5 years. (who need a cat-back). The biggest I have seen is 3". When driving around on most stock cat-backs you can not boost too high if you have a high power motor, but with the switch of a button you get to run strait downpipe. I believe possibly phase2 has one advertised on their website.

I am a huge Newb to turbos. I have spent the last year working on my car to prep it for a turbo. I have a list that is as long as some (maybe two, you guys are impressive) of your engine mod lists.

I am lurking like a madman thru all of your posts. :D

I like the idea of the E-Cutout. I will search for it on google before I ask for a link or a pic.
