Need more power.

Hey all, I've only had my truck since November, and I hated it at first, but I've made it mine and I'm really enjoying it. My ultimate goal is to drop it 2-3 inches, replace the suspension with coil overs, do an engine/transmission swap (KA24DE), paint, redo the interior, etc. etc.... but for now I'm stuck with the Z24. Which brings me to my actual question.

How do I get more power out of the engine I've got, keeping in mind that I live in California, so I can't just strip all of the smog B.S. out, and I can't swap the engine yet.
It is my only car, so it still needs to be road legal.... or at least be able to get away with it...

Any ideas???

There is really not much more power to to had out of these motors besides boring it out a little. Other than that, a good tune up will help a little. They aren't powerful on takeoff but they run strong a long time. Maybe a Weber, I don't live in kali so I'm not sure what one can "get away with"
