Hello to all out there, I own a 2000 QX4 and am looking for suggestions on how to get more power out of my V6. I have the stock 170hp engine not the 01 and up 240hp. any leads?

What kind of engine does it have? What kind of driving do you do? (be realistic) How much money are you willing to spend?

It has a 3.3L V6 and I do the daily commute thing as well as the frequent weekend 3-4 hour road trip. I'm not sure how much $ I will put in @ this time but if the result is worthwhile I can work myself up to the modification.

Qx4 = luxery pathfinder right? well, intake and exhaust are usually the first mods to make, not sure if they make an actual intake for the qx4 but im pretty sure K&N makes a filter for it. It most likely has resonators in both the air induction and exhaust systems. getting rid of those would definalty free up some power. I say get a 3" cat back with a 50 series flowmaster and a K&N filter and remove any resonators

Id say some type of supercharger would be cool

5psi would put you at 200-250 depending on Head design. You could run a twin screw or a turbo. Cost: "a lot' be prepared

If you don't want to go that far into your engine bay you can do waht sixxdeuce said and do exhaust, and intake and header. You might gain 10hp if your real lucky. Cost: 500-2000

I just bought a black 2000 qx4 myself and was told by the infiniti dealer I bought it from that the ecu was modified by another previous infiniti dealer. I asked him to prove it and he pointed to a yellow sticker inside the driver side door. Any truth to it? It sure feels more responsive. I have a 94 alty se w/ jwt ecu, as well as other mods and acceleration is pretty similar.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to start doing my homework to get some prices and hopefully soon, some more power.

Yes, you should check with JWT for to see if they offer a chip.If they dont list one, call them they sometimes have stuff not listed on their website, and can custom do stuff as well.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper, faster, and more reliable to get a later model with the larger engine?

Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion but Probably not, because I got a good deal on a vehicle in excellent shape(it only had 18K when I got it in 2001) and I have already done some modification i.e new tires, window tints, dvd/tv system and Piaa bulbs upgrade all around. Also after all is said and done I really like the vehicle.

Are the PIAA bulbs worth the upgrade? How's it look at night? How much did you spend?

The Bulbs give you a nice distinction. I have the Plasma GT with a purple HID look and they cost about $85 a set. They do brighten up the road better than regular halogens and make them look yellow too. From the outside you can see the difference clearly. The next step for me is the real HID but I may go with the factory kit and headlight assembly change because with the aftermarket kit you lose your highbeams. I have also changed my signals, front and rear for more of an effect. How did you attach the picture of your Q?

Also forgot to say the good thing about the PIAA bulbs is that they are the same wattage as your factory bulb so you don't have to worry about power drain or burning your wiring.

This is a picture of my Q and another suggestion is adding more wood on the inside.

There is a supercharger kit for your the QX4/Pathfinder with the 3.3L V6.

I don't remember what websites carry it, but do a search on google, it's not hard to find.

Hey John: Nice Looking I35, from your additions list sounds like you've got some good sounds also. About how much did you spend on sound equipment?

Thanks for the compliment. The sound is pretty good, but I've changed some things since that sig pic.

I removed the freeair sub all together and now use that spot as a port into the cabin. I got a pioneer impp 10" sub in a sealed box, and I did away with the LOC and got a real nice adapter that plugs into the back of the headunit to give me a nice clean RCA signal.

The pioneer sub was cheap, but it was all I could afford at the time. I'd say the current setup, including the adapter, tweeters, box, sub, and amp was about $310-330.

It will change again soon though I imagine. My last car's sound was unreal...I had Memphis component speakers, JL subs, Orion and Rockford amps - it sounded so good. Unfortunately that car was given to my sister, and since I didn't remember to get her anything for her birthday, I just said "Surprise! You get all this stereo equipment installed!" :(

Is the factory hid system an exact swap out or is there some modifying required. How much is it?

I'm Not sure but I think it will require wiring and I additional hardware. When I find out I will pass on the info.
