Okay, so apparently the IAC valve on my 02' Pathfinder went bad. I've been told by the dealership I used to work for that 90% of the time after the IAC goes it fries the ECM and it seems that is the case. SOO... I need to find both of these parts at a junkyard or something because I don't have $2000 for a new parts fix.

What years do I have to work with here that will work in my 02'? Are there other nissan models that use the same ECM or IAC that I could rob from? I'm going to be checking the local junkyards, craigslist, and ebay.

Thanks!

Why do dealers spout that crap? All you should need to do is replace the IACV and its o-ring then perform idle air relearn.

I worked with this dealership when I was in highschool. The mechanic I requested is a good friend from those years working. He said that he pulled the ECM earlier today and it smelled burnt and smokey. They aren't trying to jerk me around or anything and are prepared to sit on the vehicle till I can get parts together. If I can I'll probably just get my friend to install everything under the table.

I still think you should try to replace the IACV and do idle air relearn before shelling out for an ECU. You can do both easily yourself.

Go to a parts store locally to you and see if they have a supplier that rebuilds ECU's. I've had to rebuilt a O'reillys. Both were under 200.00

I would try what town said first as theres no reason a bad iacv should do that. If its shot, try ebay, or junkyards,

You stated you have a 02 in your profile, on these cars with the ecu's your kind of limited compared to other cars where they carried alot of similar things for a few model years, the only ones that will work in yours are 2001-2002 ones with the vq35 engine.

And 03-04 99% sure will not work as they were designed with a DBW (drive by wire) system with electronic throttle control and not DBC (drive by cable) which is mechanical throttle.

Also if your getting one on ebay or junkyard, make sure it is spec'ed out exactly the same as your path meaning 2wd or 4wd, 3.5 engine, and auto or manual trans, although i dont think they offered manual in 02 but make sure the ecu you get isnt coded for manual and that kind of stuff.

ECUs between auto and manual transmissions are certainly different since manual engines lack the power valves. I'm sure 03-04 ECUs won't work due to drive-by-wire as you said.

2001 and 2002 *may* be incompatible, but I wouldn't chance it. I would either have the ECU rebuilt (all they do is reflow all the solder pretty much as far as I know) or get an exact replacement.

I can get you a phone number to the place that rebuilt my 2 ECU's. They had to replace solenoids and capacitors in mine there was no re-flow BS done on mine..
PathDetector -The shop that did was in VA. And since you live in VA just call Oreilly's and talk to the manager about it.

But There is no reason the ICV fried the ECU..

I can get you a Hitachi IAC for under 225.00. and that's brand new not rebuilt.

Just about fed up with this s***. Replaced IACV,motor can't relearn idle. ECM is throwing part code that matches an ECM for a manual transmission? Mine is automatic. So what the hell is going on?!?

Sorry, I don't follow. Your ECU's part number is that of a manual transmission, but you have an automatic vehicle?

Yes, something about reprogramming them replaces the part number. Can someone please just tell me what ECM number I need for a replacement. The most recent number I have been given was a #23710-6W100. This number is also listed on O'Reily auto parts as being designated for a manual transmission...
