Summer is here (sorta) So I'm about to go ahead with the hydro dipping. Found a place I'll take a chance on in NJ. I just have to hope the trim pieces I'm buying are in good condition...none broken or bad clips, hope I'm not jinxing this by posting beforehand lol.

So I need some input on the way I'm doing it.
1/ do I go vertical or horizontal with the grain for the center console....clock face and shifter area?

2/ should I do around the center console buttons as well? Half of me wants to, but the other half says it will be too much of one thing and should be left alone to break things up. It kind of looks like it belongs on a boat. (I will not be doing the vents)

3/ should I do the trim part where the window buttons are?

4/ lastly the color. I'm definitely changing the grain style and doing it in the style of the blended m37 but I'm considering the color. And can't figure it. I really like this color and grain.

My interior is tan. Thoughts?

First, I agree with the vents. Do NOT dip those trim pieces - it looks dodgey.

I would leave the center switch panel alone, or possibly wrap it with carbon fiber as I did on my 07 M pictured below. That car was black with bourbon interior.

As far as direction, here is my suggestion:
Do horizontal for the dash and upper door trim. Do vertical for the door switch panels so the grain runs in the same direction as the long trim pieces above them.

As for the color, you say your interior is tan, however the pics you posted show 'bourbon' interior (some call it peanut butter). A dark woodgrain would look good, but since the bulk of the interior is already black, a middle shade would probably have better contrast. I would definitely NOT use a light color. If your interior is really tan (Infiniti calls it 'wheat') I would go with the dark color because the rest of the interior is such a light shade. The pic you posted as #4 shows wheat interior with dark wood and that looks fabulous.

There is a member called "mr_luv" and I believe he hydro-dipped his dash and door trim - the shade he used was a near-dark shade and complimented his interior brilliantly. Maybe if you PM'ed him he could tell you the name of the trim color he used.

Finally, and MOST important: you MUST post pics so the rest of us can see the results!

I would definitely go darker with the color.

I love the Bourbon/Peanut Butter leather color, but didnt get it because I have always felt the wood grain and leather colors clashed significantly. It just doesnt look right at all to me. A darker color will do wonders for the interior, in my opinion.

Does anyone happen to know what's under the leather of the shifter knob? Is it solid and smooth right around? I've always wanted a "wood shifter" and felt that touch was missing from this car. If it's not a smooth thing right around or you don't know, are there any thoughts on how I could "treat" the knob to give it a solid seamless surface right around so I can dip it as well?

I think Mr_luv has hydro dipped his interior to that M37 color you're talking about, if not the same it is from a M37/56.
