im about to order me some JDM tail lights  . here is my dilemma, should I order the red center piece as a full set or will the left and right lights match my original center piece? or will the new tail lights look way to new compared to the 20 YO center tail light? anyone have a picture with the JDM tail lights with the USDM center piece? my center piece is in good condition, anyone got any input?

Personally what I'm going to do is order the whole thing, just because I think the red "300zx" center part paired with the white body of my car in contrast with the red and white lenses will look good.

It's completely user preference haha.

i can understand your reasoning. if you look at my Z ive been trying to remove all "color" (note the clear lenses) thats why im wondering if the jdm tail lights will "match" the center panel cuz its white/gray

Image

if i had my choice i would go this route but i kinda gave up on it . my goal is to keep it as stock looking with what could be "factory options " on my Z

nrsz32? or something like that(just talking about the TLs)

There's some good pictures on this page:
jdm-tail-lights-t337140.html

This is another option for your center piece as well:

It's up to you honestly and what you think looks good.

it really looks like everything is the same except for the "300zx"

The jspec tail lights are probably my favorite cosmetic thing I have done to my car. The real ones (not the home made one's) really do make the car look a good bit newer, especially if the tbl isn't faded red. As for the center panel if you dont want any color the link below may be worth looking into.

Not to mention the reverse light housings on the JDM center are chrome lined, I believe. Matches the JDM tails a little bit better. I'm rocking UDSM center, and the reverse lights look a bit faded to me when compared to the clear of the JDM tail turn signals. It looks fine though, and you'll only notice it if you scrutinize.

I think they make the car look newer aswell. I have never met someone who bought them and regretted the purchase. I'll def be getting a set myself... As soon as I get my car back on the road.

I have to admit this looks pretty good as I am also a fan of less or no badges beyond the smaller Z logo emblem for the nose, and the Fairlady Z and TT stickers for the rear.

the jdm tails on my charcoal Z were gorgeous, i'm not as concerned with them now that my new Z is red though since red/orange are pretty close in the color spectrum, it doesn't stand out as much as orange on grey.

i agree it does matter a lot on what you've done with the car and choice of wheels, tbl, etc. since yours is charcoal also (i miss that color) the new tails will look pretty spiffy

Right. And the center piece swaps out without the removal of the tails. You actually have to at least loosen the center piece to get the tails out though.

so im about to pull the trigger on the tail lights, this is going to be the largest purchase for my Z in probably 4 years. last being the SZ cat back.

so ive been saving my pennies (literally ) for a couple of years for these.

Image

Image

i know i could have just gone out and bought them but i like to save money for expenses like these. it almost seems like they are going to be free cuz there is no money coming out of m y bank account or my wallet.
:rotflmao

soooooo im hoping i have enough to cover them here. anyone like to take a guess at how much i got here lol. :gotme

i was un able to pick up the jug with one hand thats how heavy it was.

so ive looked at CZP and Z1 for the tail lights and both are simular in prices. anyone know of anywhere else i could look to buy them?

Yep.

I wish I could have gotten them from IPP but they weren't instock. -_-

Greg didn't have any instock either, he doesn't normally stock them though.

lol when you get them and put them on you will wish you had put a dent in your bank account just to have them sooner. But the wait will be worth it.

Dude, you saved for the tails, get the tails. IMHO, the JSPEC center ties it all together nicely. The chrome insides of the lights are on the reverse lights as well.

Then get a deal on some adjustable links by calling Charles and getting a return customer discount :)

im wondering if CZP will match IPP on price, its only twenty bucks but its worth trying right? i wonder if i can talk them into free shipping like they did at xmas
