ok so im pretty set on a 240sx once i get the word that my car is totalled. since im a gearhead and just switching camps i have been reading alot on this site and a few others. i gather the rb26 is the baddest engine you can get? but the more comon is the sr20det. so im guessing in my budget the sr would be the one to go. now does it matter red or black top? is there a difference between fwd and rwd versions? anyplace cheaper then ebay to get them? anything like cams or upgraded turbos (im not rich by any means, i keep looking till i find what i want) i hate popup lights. the silvia conversion looks cool but how realistic is it? really im pissed at gm for a number of reasons and want to get them where it hurts. i was also thinking about a 50 shot of n2o. any faq's about nitrous? sorry for the bombardment of questions, but if my car gets totalled out then i have to make the 240 road worthy in less then a week and start driving it. i havent seen it yet so i dont know if its a hatch or a coupe. its a 1990 nonturbo 5spd. also any places you can recomend that wont make my butt bleed for parts.oh and does anyone have a linelock installed, and what the heck is a drift button?thanks for puttin up with me. im gonna go back to reading

rb26...baddest? i wouldn't say that...you can make any motor fit in any car you want as long as you have the money ie: the ford 302 swap someone on this very board the sr is the most common swap persay, but feel free to do what you want.....explore the power options.....turboing the KA you have in there....if it's a 90 it's the SOHC ka24e, swapping in a sr redtop(older sr...in s13s), blacktop(newer sr in S14s), rb20 or rb26 are the most common power options...

uh...huge difference in fwd and rwd versions...lol totally different driveline....u'll figure that out as you get into it

don't go ebay for motors....please, for your cars sake....there's a ton of sponsors on here that sell aftermarket stuffs as well as complete engine swaps

silvia conversion = money....new hood, fenders, bumper and light plus paint? it's like rear ending someone! (although that is a good reason to swap it ) it's fine as long as you have the cash to spend

by nos i assume you mean nitrous...yea...there's kits and stuff....nitrous = anti lag for big turbos

hope that helps some....but all of these subjects are somewhere on here so there's a ton of threadage (heh) to look through about everything you've mentioned

Heavy Throttle, Phase2Motortrend and Enjuku are three sponsors who are very reputable and sell engines. If you just end up picking up the cheapest engine you can find, there's a fair chance that you'll end up with a junk. That's not to say there aren't good deals to be had, but it's not exactly a buyer's market for the SR and there are quite a few dishonest sellers out there.
