i have a 2000 Max SE with the bose stereo.....and i want to do a HU, front door, rear doors and sub upgrade, without the wife being able to tell visually.

the previous owner installed a aftermarket cassette deck but this is my plans:

double din HU with ipod hook-up (kw-xg700) http://mobile.jvc.com/product....age=26.5" component for front stage (6000v.2) http://www.edesignaudio.com/ed...id=496.5" sub for rear door (7kv.2) http://www.edesignaudio.com/ed...id=338" sub for rear deck (9kv.2) http://www.edesignaudio.com/ed...id=295 ch amp. running at 4ohms front door - 2ohms rear door subs- 2ohms rear deck sub

since the rear deck sub might not be enough bass, would the 6.5" subs in the door add more to the sub stage, or do more harm than good? I cant find any sub set-ups without it being a box with 10" 12" or 15"s. As posted before the car is for my 16 yr old son, and his mother will not let him add anything if its not in the factory location.

What is your aversion to a sub in a box? The door subs honestly would probably just complicate things and not really contribute positively to the sound. What kind of music does your son listen to? Sorry for all the q's but I did this for a living for 6 years.

i dont mind, but his mother would rather he keep it ALL stock....if she would let me, i have two 10"s ready to bang..... but she runs the show!!!!!

He listen to hip-hop, rap, and some pop..... thats why i was trying to get as much bass as possible .

would the door subs cause cancelations, or what? cause i just dont think the 8" in the deck lid IB style will be enough. wht would you suggest?

I'd run the wires for the 10's and wait a few weeks to put them in. Honestly how mad could she get if your "son" took the initiative to put them in on his own. Its really hard to actually get cancelation in a car unless you have two speakers wired out of phase. More of the issues with that would just be weird harmonic interactions between the 6" and the 8".

If your son is listening to rap there's very few 8" set ups that would sound great just because of frequency limitations. Ideally for rap I recomend 12", rock 10" and your mature customer that wants a "little more oomph" that's where 8" comes in.

I'm being a bit of a hypocrite though because I have a pair of 6" that wail but they are in a ported 1.5 ft^3 box.
