Hi,

Looking at a 96 Q45t. I am familiar with the cars I owened a 91, and did the guides myself. Great car until someone rear ended me and wrote it off.

Anyways looking at this 96 touring model. Very well maintained, excellent condition, 120K miles.

I need to know does the touring designation on the 96's include 4 wheel steering? if so I want no part of it. I did some searching and know about the extra sway bar in the touring, but not sure if the 4 wheel steering was just in the earlier tourings or carried through to 96.

Help!!

I have to decide today on this one as I am headed out of town.

Thanks Lots!!

Adam

Thank you!!

That is a good thing, the car is in beautiful condition with the pearl paint. Not a scratch, runs great. No timing chain to dink around with.

Cheers!

Just because the paint is shiny does'nt mean it perfect.

Do you have the service history and a Carfax report on the car? Is there anything wrong with it at all?

Would you bet $3000+ on the "Perfect car"

Sorry to sound like an ***, But don't assume anything.

Hey,

I totally agree guys. Because it is shiny doensnt mean it is perfect. I have the carfax, local car all its life with as solid maitanance history. Done the title search one accident claim for $650.00. Did the dealer service at infinity 20K miles ago.

I would definitely be more leery if I hadnt had my 91Q. Like I said I did the guides in 8 hours with nothing but hand tools and some jack stands. I am reletively confident I can reduce the "new" used car fix-up expenses by doing most/some of it myself. It is in great condition and no sign of problems, but I anticipate a few things will pop up.

Im willing to make that bet.

Thanks for the concern gents. I'll let you know how she goes.

Based on tens of thousands of Q45 repairs the labor and retail parts costs are roughly equal [55% parts], so full do it yourself [if you have every tool and lift] can save you 45% [but how are you depreciating the $75k in tools].

Obviously it is not cost effective to buy tire mounters or balancers, brake lathes, transmission BG exchange machines, brake exchange machines, and many of the other items that might only be used once per year.

So a good expert do ityourselfer with $5-10,000 in tools might be able to save half the labor saving 25%.

Be sure to self charge yourself $25 an hour to allocate your free time value.

Or if you actually like doing the work, you dont have to charge yourself anything. I would rather being in my Garage wrenching on one of my cars then watching football or playing golf. Guess "work" is in the eye of the beholder
