O2 sensor detects the amount of air/fuel in the exhaust..

there are a few different kinds

1 wire (signal only) compares whats in the exhaust stream, to whats in the atmospheric air around the sensor.

3/4/5 wire Heated sensor, where there is 2 grounds, a signal, and a +. the ecu sends a signal to heat the o2 sensor for better readings..

But on the good ol KA, the 1 wire front O2 sensor is all you need.
