The pointy ends of the four lobes will all be facing outwards (toward the fender of the car)...TDC on #1 means both intake and both exhaust valves are closed, so the lobes on the cams will be pushing down on the shims the least at this point, hence the reason the pointy ends are all pointing outward.

or you can just look at the cam sprockets. on the intake cam the mark on it should be pointing towards around 11 o clock, and the exhuast cam should be pointing towards around 1-2 o'clock.

when i was trying to line up my timing marks for the dizzy it wouldn't start at all, so i used the marks on the cam sprockets and my friend was urging me to use them and when i did, the car started on the first try.
