I'm needing help figuring out what to do with my motor. It's started smoking real bad and I'm wanting to put a new motor in it but I'm not sure what to go with or what is an easy swap or just stay with a vg30e. And if I do stay with the stock motor what upgrades I should do and where can I get them. I have a 86' 300ZX none turbo. I would love some help. Thank you.

easiest is just another VG30E. Second easiest would be a VG30ET.

Does anyone know where to get a vg30et? And how hard would it be to put a vg33e in it?

VG33E is essentially the same as the VG30E. Just a different size bore. All the external components basically bolt right on.

don't, if you want power, do the vg30et, the vg30dett might get you 10% more power but it wil ost you 10 times as uch to do the swap and make that power, the vg30etis a great motor with tons of potential, the vg30dett is an excersize in engineering and packaging with only minor gains in power

the vg30et wil get nearly 300 whp in stock for with only intake ehaust, intercooer and boost conroller, the vg30dett wil get you only a bit over 300 whp with the same mods only it's far more difcult to install and twice as much work and cost to add the interooler(s) and of course coststwice as much to putchace and you'll also have to swap the trans and oh so much wiring, vg30et is plug and lay

ummm...parts store? dealer? nothing about a vg30et is rare or unusual

to do the swap it's easies to get a whole z31 trbo and swap over the motor crossmember and piping and ecu needed bits either complete or just convert your vg30e to an et (crossmember, ecu, injectors, turbo, oil pan, oil line, drivers side exhaust manifold, etc) I've picked up a couple of complete turbo parts cars for $500 or less

if you're asking about parts to service the vg30et you just get them where you get parts for your vg30e, just when looking the parts up you say turbo instead of non turbo

if you're asking about modding the motor it's all pretty much generic parts, boost controller, intercooler and pipe to fit, cone air filter, cat back or turbo back exhaust (certified muffler) this should get you in the 280 whp range, beyond that it gets a bit complicated, you have to do something to be able to tune, (romulaotor, piggyback stand alone etc), larger injectors, larger turbo and somwhere around 400 whp the pistons will need upgraded most people tend to stop short of forged internals but there are those that go for the gusto ultimately they can make about as much as the vg30dett but it cost a lot less to do it, they are much easier and cheaper to service and modify

I can find most of what I'm wanting but what I can't find is forged pistons larger objectors or the stand alone set up. And someone saying something about being able to chip the ecu?

forged pistons can beordered custome through most machine hope most parts suppliers or from the manufacturers directly in some cases, I'm running stock pistons inmy vg30et but had ustome forged pistosn made form my L28ET which I ordered from wiseco through summit

the injectors will vary, some use mercedes injectors, some use jim wolf, some adapt dsm's, you have to rememberthese engines camewith either a top feed or a dual feed injector an mnay either adapt a stnadard injector to the top fedrail or they buyor build a custome fuel rail, I luced upon a complete engine with im wolf injectors, I bought a custom fuel rail and used DSM injectors form my L28et

stand alone, wel it's a standalon you can buy a sand alone form ost decent parts suppliers and in some cases direct from the manufacturer, I' running megasquirt on both my vg and L6, bought the board form B&G back in the day and the parts from mouser and digikey, I've since delt with diyautotune and they are awesome guys or you can do the romulator, zemulator, nistue sold though speialty suppliers or the manufacturers

Do you have $5000 sitting around? Because that's how much it could end up costing you to get a STOCK VG30DETT into your car and running properly.

$5000 will get you a s*** ton of power in a VG30ET or VG33ET.
