Hey Guys, need some help with this one. I just got a 94 Q with 101k on it, which from all the signs, seems very well maintained. There is a vibration which is the same in all gears and all speeds, but comes and goes. It's not the tires because I put 4 new ones on and the vibration is still there. At ignition on, the information panel reads "OK" so it could'nt be anything major. I'm thinking driveshaft. Everything else about The "Q" is awesome.

Check your motor and transmission mounts for wear and cracks. If they haven't been replaced then replace anyway because they are 12 years old and will cause other parts to wear pre-maturely!

Hi, I just got a Q45 and have over a hundred thousand miles on it, and it all so vibrates a little. Do you have pictures of the engine and transmission mounts?

Advising to check the mounts and possibly replace them is a very good idea for your problem.Sound and vibration travel in a driveline, however. You mentioned you just put 4 new tires on.Would the tire shop possibly allow you to put the car on their lift and check it? You'll need not only to look at the mounts for wear or cracks, but try and get a long rachet extension or other rod to place at your ear,and listen to the driveshaft, halfshafts, and even the differential for the noise/vibration you feel. Also keep in mind 4 new tires will balance well at times on a bent rim;most tire places don't spin the wheels to check for this;no time unless they are very good.I take my tires/wheels 20+ miles to a tire shop that checks EVERYTHING;they take 20 minutes a wheel and charge for it,but twice have found a bent rim I needed worked on.My turbo BMW had a vibration(previous owner) for a year until they found the bent rim that balanced on the tire machine WITH the tire on it.

Good luck...

If the rotors are warped, that can also cause some vibration. transmission mount seems like the most common cause.

Any rubber component will weaken or crack after 12+ years. Replaced motor/transmission mounts on my Wrangler, Horizon because it was doing the very same thing and you could see the components sagging in both cases. Now my 92 Q has a slight vibe also, so as history has shown, I'm gonna check my mounts. Hope this helps.
