I got my 85 300zx about a week ago.
The turn signals would go solid in the car..... looked around and found a burned out bulb in the front. Installed a new bulb and they worked like they should.

I let the car sit about a week and went out tonight and cranked it up. Went to make sure they were still working and now they once again are not.
They are acting very strange. When I turn on the hazards they go solid and occasionally the front right will blink along with the turn signal lights in the dash.....then go solid and it seems like they front driver side goes in and out from solid to not working. When I turn on the actual turn signal they don't work.....the front driver side will go solid....then go out all together....then back solid.....

Relay???????
Bad ground connection???

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd think ground issue, there si a chassis ground near one or both headlight motors, sorry I can't remember off hand but it grounds to the inner finder iirc, you can cheap and locate the ground wire for the signal adn then run a new ground to the chassis and see if it works, could slso be bad flashers.

I went out last night and got some stuff for the car, including a flasher relay so I will try that first and if not start looking at bad ground connections etc.

I appreciate the info. I'm sure I will have a ton of questions in the near future lol.

Put the new relay in and it fixed the problems.

One unusal thing is that the driver side turn signal blinks about twice as fast................ maybe I went with too light of weight blinker fluid on that side :D

Look for a burned out bulb some where in the drivers side. Don't forget to check the indicator bulb in the dash as well. If all bulbs are working properly, you may have a high resistance path to ground on the passenger side caused by corrosion.

I haven't had a chance to look yet. Rain here has been pretty steady.

I guess I should clarify though. The driver side is blinking twice as fast as it should. All other lights blink at a normal rate.
I will look at the wiring a little closer if it ever lets up outside though.

As always,
Thanks for the help

This is the normal failure mode when a light bulb burns out.
