I was in NYC for the weekend and on my drive back to NC today I filled up in NJ right before getting off the turnpike I asked for 93( but I wasn't looking when they filled it and it passed my mind to check) about 150-175mile in to that tank in VA My service engine light came on so when I stopped in a rest area I checked

Gas cap ✔️
Oil ✔️
Washer fluid ✔️
Coolant✔️
Break fluid ✔️
Power steering fluid ✔️

For what I could see everything looked intact and everything was working fine. When I got to Jacksonville Nc I went to autozone to have them pull the code well turned out to be three codes

1) P0455 EVAP control system gross leak detected
http://engine-codes.com/p0455_infiniti.html

2) U1000 CAN Communication line - signal malfunction
http://engine-codes.com/u1000_infiniti.html

3) P1815 Manual mode switch
http://engine-codes.com/p1815_infiniti.html

I've kept up with all services required, I even had my oil changed before going to NYC so roughly less then 1500 miles ago and the Nissan dealer said everything is good to go.

I would like to know if anyone has had these issues and what was done to fix them or what can be done. By the way I have about 85k

Thanks in advance

Regarding the first code, when you say you checked your gas cap, did you tighten it until it clicked? That would be the first step. If you tried that, maybe you need to remove it and tighten it again. I have also heard of a few people replacing their gas caps when tightening them didn't work and having success there.

Regarding the other two codes, they don't sound like they'd be related to the fill-up, but if they are, getting a fresh clean tank of gas and driving some more may get rid of them. It's also possible they aren't even related to the light and may be there even with the light on, because the light is generally for emissions issues, and those don't sound like emissions issues.

ETA: If you did tighten the gas cap until it clicked and are going to remove and retighten it, I'd see about having the codes reset right after that. Then, if the other two were temporary and the gas cap resolves the emissions issue, the light shouldn't come on and you should be in good shape.

I did try retightening the gas cap, I also clean the rubber seal and the metal that completes the seal but no change. I have also read that some replace the gas cap, Where can I find an OEM gas cap. Would a regular mech be able to reset the code because the infiniti dealer is about 2&1/2 hrs away.

Also with the manual mode switch I'm not even sure what could be the problem I switch to manual today and drove it 20 miles to work today and had no problem with it, just the minor delay because it's not an actual manual but other then that it was working fine. I'm really bothered by this damn light, I want to try to figure it out before having to drive 2&1/2 hrs to the dealer to have them tell me it's nothing.... or to have them tell me it's worst the what I really think :ohno:
Well thanks for your Input @The00Dustin

if your nearest dealer is too far away, you can pick up a scanner at your local auto store. just get a simple one that will allow you to clear codes as well. I have one that I keep for all my vehicles...I think I spent under $40...it's the Actron Pocket Code Reader.

I would expect AutoZone could clear the codes for you and you wouldn't even need to buy a scanner. If they won't do that out of policy, buying one yourself may be cheaper than going to a local mechanic, who surely could as well. That having been said, you should make sure the Evap code is still there before clearing it, because if that code is gone, then you probably don 't need a gas cap as it was probably just work. If you want to get one just in case / to prevent this from happening again, I'm not sure how important it is that it be OEM, but if you want an OEM one, you can get them online from a few different places. infinitipartsusa.com used to be thrown around a lot as they have good prices and I believe they were a board sponsor. I don't know if the latter is still true. A couple specific dealerships with online service are still mentioned when people ask, but I don't know where, so hopefully either my post with link above is OK or someone else will chime in.
