i went to performance shop today to get some struts for my 93 j30t with 128k. and he told me they dont make aftermarket struts for them because of the electronic suspension the j30 has. so he tells me i have to go to the dealer. ok no problem, then i check the dealer prices for struts. i almost passed out. they want like $300.00 each . so my question is does anyone know where i could get them for a better price? or if you know of any aftermarket struts that will work. thanks in advanced..

No after market struts. Read DiamondJ (also Diamond) for custom suspension details. Way more expensive than stock.

By the way, the shocks are not electronic. Always better to stay stock on these cars unless there is a proven alternative, which you will read about here.

Don't know if you're getting front or rear (or both!) but I got a set of rear struts from everythinginfiniti.com for just under $130 each. Don't forget to order the Rebound Bumper, around $30 each if I remember correctly. The rear ones are not hard to change at all, don't know about the front ones yet. Also, I do not have active suspension (just a J30). You can get all the part numbers from Carlos at http://www.fuzzycats.com/j30parts/page_767.jpg.

I replaced all the boots on my friend's 1993 J30. The fronts are a little bit harder than the rears. You have to remove the strut and hub assembly in one piece. The strut is an insert. You open the original one, clean out the fluid, and insert the new one. Give yourself about 6 hours to do all 4. It took me 4 hours to replace the boots and the steering rack boots. I would think maybe 2 more hours, to completely remove the fluid and clean the housings.
