Definatey a starter problem. Same thing happened to me and I had to replace it.

If it ever stops turning over on you before you get a new starter, find (or keep in your car) a long wrench and give the starter a few solid hits. This will most likely get it to turn over so you can get home. However, this is a TEMPORARY fix, and will stop working after a while. Save the hassle/headache and get yourself a new starter.

Be advised if you hit your starter, you need to hit it on the end, not on the sides. Hitting your stater on the sides will most likely hurt the unit even more and you may not be able to run it the 2 or 3 times more you need to get it to the shop to fix it.
