Ok, well I dropped my transmission to check on my pilot bearing and throw out bearing and found that there wasn't a pilot bearing in it. I read the posts on an automatic pilot bearing converter and I rented a tool to try to get it out. I tried the pilot bearing puller and also the grease trick but neither were very efficient. I moved it a little but it still wont come out. I also cannot get my flywheel off. It came off easily when I got it resurfaced last month but now it seems stuck. It will wiggle but wont come off. Is there something Im forgetting? Any help on getting either off would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I dont get it, you found no pilot bearing yet you are trying to pull one out?

As for the flywheel, if its wiggling, keep wiggling.

Well its not a pilot bearing...its, according to posts on this forum and others, its a pilot bearing converter for an automatic transmission. I dont think the automatic has a pilot bearing. Well I got tired after about an hour and a half of wiggling...so very tired of wiggling. Anyhow thanks Speedracer1.

It'll work its way off eventuailly.

As far as the pilot bearing/bushing... My SR had a bushing. You can call it a bearing in that it looks a LOT like a main bearing on the crank only smaller

I pulled my bushing with some WD-40 and two flat head screws that I held onto with visegrips. I felt like a cave man but it worked :)

What do you mean? Did you tap the screws into the bushing then pulled it? Anyhow I think I'm just going to take a hack saw to it.

i don't think you wanna score the hole it goes into...

I'de guess he used the heads from the flat heads to wedge in behind the bushing...

Go to your nearest autozone or Harbour Frieght. Rent/buy a tool called pilot bushing puller. Gets the bushing right out!
