I got myself a pair of Kenwood speakers out of the junkyard. I couldn't really argue with free. Anyway, they were from a single cam 240 coupe just like mine and when I went to put them on my car, the male connectors didn't match with the female connectors. Stock speakers used a sensor-looking connector with the male parts in an "L" shape about 2mm from each other while the Kenwoods use two male connectors alligned horizontally about half an inch from each other. Needless to say, it didn't successfully connect. Anybody know what I can do to make it fit ? Is there a special wiring harness like for a head-unit that I need to get ?

You need speaker harnesses. All aftermarket speakers have the big and small rectangle terminals. They cost anywhere between $5-$10 at any place that sells mobile audio.

Or, you can break out the wire strippers and just splice the wires together. Strip the insulation around the wires going to the speaker (or just snip off the harness altogether) and wrap the wires around the terminals.

I've never had good luck with the harness adapters that are out there (they tend to fall apart on me). Your best option is probably to go to radio shack and get the female ends for those connectors and use those, shouldn't cost you more than $2.50

Weird, I've never had a problem with them in all my installs. Maybe it depends on the company.

I would probably just end up splicing the wires because I'm a cost cutter. Just make sure you solder the wires if you do this.

I worked for circuit for a short stint (thank god it was only a short stint) and I probably had at least 2 a week go ad on me.
