The button for the shift knob snaps in place.. You remove the button by gently prying the tabs and it will come right out.. Then you use a deep socket, i think its 10mm and remove it. pretty easy...

The low fuel indicator comes on when theres less than 4 gallons in the tank..... its just a switch on the fuel sending unit in the tank, could be the problem as well, but havent heard of them failing.

Are you referring to the gasket for the sunroof?

Same here. I have never seen a low fuel light on mine either.

I guess I don't have a problem... I just havn't seen a low fuel light on my j30 and I have had it below the very last mark on the gauge.

I also had never seen my light but I changed all fuses in the fuse baox and...BAMM.. It comes on as soon as I hit "E" ...I get about 5 miles from that point

My low-fuel comes on right about 300 miles, and if I can lift just a little I get right around 20mpg. Some day I'll actually load up a can and go find how far I have left. The shift knob's pushbutton has two tangs, one left and one right. You need something like pen-knife blades to reach down along the sides and gently get them to release and lift off the button.Do a search for "shift lock" to get hints about the no-key shiftability.
