My 1996 Maxima lost its main belt and driving home the battery and car died. Putting in a replacement battery got me home. While putting in the replacement battery I inadvertently crossed polarity before starting. Car started and ran fine going home so no apparent damage done.

Replaced teh belt and started the car. It ran fine but A/C, Pwindows, seats, door locks didn't work. Checking I found the 7.5amp "battery" fuse (at top of fuse box) under the dash was blown. and replaced it. Now the ignition is dead (won't make a sound) and locks, windows and seat are still dead. The dasboard lights, radio, all work fine when the key is turned on. Headlights, signals etc. also all work.

Can anybody advise why the ignition is now dead?ThanksHerman

There are two fusible links protecting the relays under your hood. Check those. They're sections of wire that are designed to melt and break contact like a fuse.
