I have a 1992 300zxtt 2=2 conversion. I have 4.10 gears at 18psi roughly 460whp 450tq (I am basing that on my previous dyno before current upgrades) max efficiency is 23psi. I will post new dyno video once completed. First time on the track I spun in through 3rd like driving on wet pavement until middle of third. With a R/T of .753 with a time of 12.802 I know the car is capable of awesome times based on street runs(I no longer street race)I know motor set ups well just not set ups for qaurtermile. Oh also weight based on truck stop 3350lbs. Any tir set up advice or advice for getting the best time out of my car would be appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v..._page

Currently 18's 245-35-18 z rated street tires. That time the launch was from idle because with my torque range and motor set up with a stage 3 sprung 6-puck in knew it would be impossible to hook. I was hoping that on a track launching from idle I would have some traction but no. I have tokico but my main concern is tire choice I also considered using the stock and putting some taller tires on it.[IMG][/IMG]

you need to get some drag tires.. either full slicks or some drag radials... so you can launch that thing... or learn to drive really well (no offense there just takes seat time)

i would use your stock rims and get the bf goodwrench drag radials(for the rear of course)... get them as wide as will fit on your car.. buddy of mine uses 300z wheels with those and pulls of a 1.8 to a 1.9 60' in his rb25 240... it is all about the 60'.. plus you want to make sure that the rear tires aren't all cambered in... and if you can adjust your shock- make the front harder and rear softer to allow wieght tansfer on the launch

i hate bfg's best 60 i could pull is 1.7 spinning. if you go drag radial MT et streets have been my best tire by farr.make sure your rear suspension is as soft as possible to get the weight transfered to the rear wheels. and make sure your front suspension has plenty of travel before the shocks max out so it doesnt shock the car on launch and send it into a violent wheel hop. I personally wouldn't use the 18's go with your stock 16's. also DO NOT go with the widest tire you can tuck. if you do all your doing is dragging along extra lugage thats going to slow you down. I would suggest no bigger than a 9" wide in the mt et streets. The trick to tires is run the least amout as possible and still hook it. thats less tire mass that has to be rotated. all of these guys out here that spend big money on light weight driveshafts and weight reduction that just throw a HUGE tire on the rear just wasted a bunch of money. i also would get some type of launch control to spool up the turbo's. makes a huge difference.

have you tryed the Drag Star by Weld ? I'm running these and have good clearence in and our, this is with an 15x8 wheel and tire 275 wide. The only back draw is that I HAD to install 60mm wheel studs

+1 welds all the way with either Mickey Thompson Drag Radials or Full on Slicks... if your worried about axles and driveshaft possibly popping on you, go with the mickey drag radials....

BUT DEFINITELY 15x8 with a 275 out back, WELD Draglite or Prostar all the way around front and rear, and some 15x3.5" wheels up front with some 165/50 tires from like a VW or something

I have a set of the skinny tires sitting in my garage $125+ ship no wheels.

THE REASONING for the skinny tires, is when your going through the water box, you dont want your front wheels to pick up alot of , if any water, if they do... when you leave the line as soon as your rear tires hit the water, your spinning. Spinning isnt winning =)

Peace

first off dump the 18s they do nothing in terms of traction. Even if you throw a sticky tire on them chances are your gonna get some wheelhop and start breaking axles/diff's etc. Now that that's out of the way throw some 16s on the car if your an auto i say go with MT et drag radials, if you row your own gears then i'd go with mt et streets a bias ply tire. The sidewall is much softer and it will allow the tire to "wrinkle" at the launch and take the stress off your diff& axles. Most including me will recommend that you also run some type of skinny up front to help with the sway caused by the bias ply tires in the rear, but theres been many that just pump up the psi in the fronts and hold on lolp.s - with 16' et streets i was able to knock off 1.4-1.5 60's consistantly
