yesterday was my first day auto-xing with a load of new parts. driving my car on the road with these new parts felt really good, but once i got on the course it oversteered too much to my liking. heres what my setup is so far- suspension techniques sways, d2 coilovers, tein tension rods, adjustable RUCAs, tie bars in the front, rear, and lower rear, and my tires are yokohama avs es100 225/45/16 all around. .the oversteering was most noticable around the slower tight turns. my toe on the rear is very very slightly out (a few tenths of a degree) because thats all we could get out of the stock adjustment. i dont think it would cause me to oversteer like this but just making sure. i ran with the same alignemt before and with just coilovers only and the rear didnt come out then like it does now. i need help trying to figure out what i need to do to cure this problem. oh yeah, im running open diff too.

Variations in tire pressure, camber differences, etc. can cause this.

maybe your rear bar is too stiff?

can you describe how your losing grip in the rear? do you have too much spring, too much bar, too much psi in the rear, damper settings etc, etc. was it a slick spot, uneven surface...lots of possibilites.

i would lose grip when entering a really tight slow turn. the *** would be all over the place. on the longer higher speed turns my car did really well. its just the slow turns where im constantly turning the wheel left or right that got the best of my car. i dont know what i have too much of... thats what im trying to figure out in this thread. oh yeah, i forgot to say that my spring rates are 7/5.

what are your shocks set at?

I also had some understeering/oversteering problems at the last autox... and it was greatly improved after softening up the shocks. If you're oversteering, try making the rear shocks softer.

I'm saying softer in the rear.

You had the coils before, added more neg camber, added upper/lower tie bars (=stiffer chassis; maybe amplified the tendency to understeer if you had some before??)and I dont know what tension rods are...

so I would say try a thinner (less stiff) sway bar (maybe stock SE??).

you said you lose grip going in (brake/deceleration) so I dont think its the open diff (Ive never thought about the diff under braking...)

the other side is that your front might be TOO stiff/grippy...

ok so loose in slow turns. were you still on the brakes when it happened? too much front dive could take weight off the rear. Did the car break loose when you weere trying to accelerate at corer exit? too much rear tire psi is bad for this. tooo much rear bar also might not allow enough body roll. also you didn't mention it but any surface irregularities can cause a stiffly sorung rear to lose grip. i'm going to be sorting this myself.

i have the ksports found here with the 7/5 combo and i think it may be too much spring for the valving thats in the dampers.

i was never on the brakes when it happens. believe me, i know about weight transfer and what it does. my problem has nothing to do with this. .yes, my car would break loose when trying to exit slow tight turns which i hate SOOOO much. i definetly need a lsd (next on the list). the course was slightly slippery, so i know this had an effect on my problem some what. .i think im gonna try and soften the rear up just a lil bit more. then take a psi or two out of the rear and see what that does. im not about to change my rear bar. does anyone else here auto-x with ST sway bars? .i also think some stickier tires will help alot. when my avs wear out im going to go with some azenis sports for sure. the front end of my car is setup near perfect. its just the rear thats sucking nuts. thanks for the replies everyone.

good news guys! today i softened the rear by turning the knob on the dampners a full turn out. damn, what a difference that made! thats all that needed to be done. i went and tested her out at her limits at a big *** parking lot. the rear sticks now and im one happy biotch .
