hey, i bought 4 ca's and one of them looks really different than the rest (its a det). It has a messed up looking intake mainfold and some other wierd stuff, also it has turbo piping going across the top of the valve cover that says turbo on it...is this an older/newer model? Thanks for any help...I dont know if this is how all det's look and this would make since if my other det isnt really a det, just a de with a turbo put on it, or if it is another model? thanks again,-jared

if i remember correctly, that was one of the non-intercooled ones. its still a turbo one but minus the intercooler.

RB20?

Count the spark plugs, injectors, or exhaust manifold runners. If its six... its an RB.

the earlier ca's were non intercooled, and had the manifold running over the valve cover's. i believe 88-89, then they added the intercooler.

I think they came in S12's, the non intercooled RWD engine. with the pulsar looking manifold. hey, thats what I'm gonna have! cept I am putting an intercooler in. sounds fun, 240GTR

it's a good manifold design due to runners getting fed equally as opposed to the first runner getting a lot of air and the last getting less. (not that the difference is that great) But yea, it was used on the RWD S12 and it was the old non intercooled ca18det. I had a pic of it somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. Sorry.

well thats not it either. thats a pic of a SOHC version, but its the same idea. I know they did the same thing only with the DOHC, but I can't find a pic and it's 2am and I'm tired. I tried.
