HEY,I AM NEW TO DIS NICO CLUB AND I JUST GOT ME A 1993 NISSAN 240SX. I WAS HOPEIN SUM1 COULD HELP ME WIT MY CAR. I WANNA GET IT TO RUN BETTER AND FASTER WIT DA STOCK MOTOR. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME AND TELL ME WAT I NEEDA DO TO IT. START WITH DA BASIC. AND I AM NEW TO DIS SO PLZ HELP ME AND DUNT USE TO DEEP OF A VOCAB. I AM STILL LEARNIN BOUT CARS.

hey newbie.. nice to see another s13 on nico... well what do you want to do to your car... drift?? drag?? they're a lot you can do w/ a 240... lol... start off slow intake and exhaust... aem intake give a ka around 8 horses... (oh you said your learning) ka is the motor in your car just in case you didn't know... KA24DE... turbo charged? KA24DET... supercharged? ight just email me now and i'll reply through email... its a whole lot easier that way... but to answer your question aem is prob the best you can get, i think... there's also injen, its pretty good... just dont go w/ the offbrand... exhaust... where do you live? based on c.a.r.b reg in some states you'll have to check what your states allows you to have (prolly need a hi-flow cat for street driving) my state doesn't really check so i have straight 2 1/2 in exhaust on my 240... anyways just start emailing me

i'll just copy what i wrote in ur email to here

hey carb is regulations on what emissions ur ehaust puts out (trying to save the enviroment ****) im not sure about minn but i know in cali you must have a cat... well let me ask you this... did you have to get your car tested for anything by the state inorder to register your car?if not, then ur states not strict and you can throw anything on there you want to... that's why when you are ordering some parts for you car it might said carb approved or not 50 state legal... intake & exhaust is a good start... what do you want to do to your car? turbo or go non-turbo (NA- naturaly aspirated)? at some point you'll need to rebuild your motor... my suggestion by a junk 240 w/ a good motor/transmission just in case yours messes up.. you can get those for pretty damn cheep... anyways buy a engine stand (snapon.com) and start tearing your SPARE motor apart.... get to know it... 240's are simple motors... anyways turbo you'll need to buy lower compression pistons... ur stock ratio is 9:5:1 next model 240 is 10:5:1... best ratio for 15-20 lbs of boost? 8:5:1.... anyways what questions do you have that i can answer for ya?

woah you dont know a lot do you... mmm let me think... first off you have 4 pistons... v8's have 8 pistons.. get it? its hard to explain... your pistons are connected to rods... do a search on the internet about how a motor works to get more information on that... if you want to run high boost (higher the boost the more hp) youll need to rebuild ur block (the bottom part of your motor) otherwise you'll be wasting your time... there is a lot involved w/ turbo charging your motor... from the right turbo to the right intercooler to making sure you have oil lines correct... do you want to call me so we can talk... there's a lot of info i can give you and this is a lot of typing... i have a toll free number so it wont be long distance for ya

YEAH I AM STILL LEARNIN. WOW I JUST LOOK UP SUM 8:5:1 PISTON AND DERE ALMOST 5 HUNDRED. ME AND MY OLDER BROTHER IN LAW WE ALREADY TOOK DA MOTOR APART. WE GOT ALOT FROM DA MOTOR OFF. YEAH I'LL CALL U SUMTYME. RIGHT NOW I AM STILL LEARNIN AND SEARCHING ONLINE.

ight cause if you want to call me now its toll free (my work #) but i get off work @ 2 day... so to call free u gotta call before 2

anyways... yeah making a car fast is not cheap... everythings pricey... go to the grocery store and buy up all the tuner mags... they'll help you out a lot... thats how i learned a lot of stuff about cars... i've only seen like 2 mags that didn't have anything in it about a 240... the best mags are import tuner and modified... also check out enjukuracing.com

do you know what a SR20 is? hint: its a motor

start buying parts... pistons (w/ rings), rods, valvesprings, valve stems... all the internals you can afford... a lightweight crank would be nice but they are sooo expensive... you said you were into drag racing... weight reduction helps A LOT in a 240 for every 18 pounds you take out its like gaining 1 hp... i removed everything in the rear... seats, carpet, panels, speakers... its really easy to do and its free... lol

yeah i got sum magazine and i did do my research b4. yeah i knoe its aint cheap but its ok. i'll have to save up sumore. yeah i have check out enjukuracing.com but dere was only sr20 item. and yes i knoe wat a sr20 is. at 1st when i 1st got da car i wanted a sr20det-t but den later i found out da da ka could kick butt so i stick with da ka motor.

yea i like the ka better than the sr... check out club240sx.org (i think thats right) they have a lot of info... what ? do you have that i can answer for ya

yeah ok i'll start buyin internal parts like piston wit ring. wat is a rod, valvsprings, valve stem? and wat is a crank? hmmm i do wanna drag but as for now i dunt wanna tear up da back seat yet. wow so every 18 pound i take out, dat will give me 1 horse power? wow thnx now i knoe no to add so much on to da car.

you need to learn what engine internals are before you start buying them. read this article. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm that is a basic article on what and how engine work. do lots of research on this site and any other site you can get. READ READ READ and you will learn young grasshopper. if you want to do an OEM rebuild this site is a great source. http://www.hybridka.com/ and please try to speak proper english, it makes it easier for all of us to read. good luck.
