well you can look at the diff carrier. You'll see it say R200 if you've the LSD. Another way to tell, lift the rear on jackstands. Rotate the rear right wheel. If the left one spins, you've an LSD. Another way to tell, check the side of the car. If it says "Super Hicas" you've an LSD.

My car looks identical to that. It too is a 92 SE hatch. I didn't have lsd so I opted to buy a Infiniti J30 LSD for 350 shipped to my house. I used the J30 punkin I just had to have 2 bolts machined longer to make up for the gap from the bushings. I also switched the rear cover on the diff. Nick

there would be an orange sticker on it if you do and i think there is a way to tell by your vin #. someone posted it in a thread a while back. just do a burnout and count the strips, thats the easiest way.

my open diff will leave 2 marks most of the time on burnouts, so that's not a very valid way of testing it.

yea thats true, i should have said, do a burnout and cut the wheel all the way, then count the stripes. you wont leave 2 stripes if you dont have an lsd.

i also need help with this question. today i bought a so called " LSD" for $100, im kind of skeptical because it was so cheap. what is a sure fire way to tell if its lsd. Im pretty sure mine came from a junk yard, the words " 95 vlsd" are written on it in a red marker.

btw sorry to thread jack you :D

Sure fire way to tell if its lsd is to pull the cover off. If you see spider gears, its open. If its an enclosed differential, its a Viscous. Other way is to stop your car, turn your wheel all the way left or right, rev and dump the clutch. If you start going in circles, you got a LSD, if you sit there with one tire spinning, well, time to get a LSD.
