need help with lifters...

Im new to this place, Hopefully you guys can help me with this problem. I took my sr20det s13 blacktop out so i can bleed the hydraulic lifters but I can't seem to pull them out of the head. Do i need special tool to pull it out? cause i tried pulling it out with pliers but that dont seem to work either... -kt-

The tolerances are very tight and if you pull them out with a slight angle, they will not come out. Just gently pull it out while rocking it back and forth very gently. They'll come out.
