Need help with lash adj. removal

I just got an 89 240 ka24e with ticking lifters, or lash adjusters. I've done so much searching and reading I can't tell you. I've taken the rocker arms out twice and couldn't get the lash adjusters out of the rockers. I tried bleeding them while still in the rockers but that hasn't helped. Can anyone give me some advice on this- Like how to do it, what tools i can use for removal?
