HI, I POSTED THIS IN THE GENERAL SECTION AND GOT NO HELP.I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME HERE.... HI,

Hello,After working on my car all day I am writing this for some help. I have had a few beers so if the grammer and spelling are wrong then SO BE IT.I had a Guide header on my car that I got in 93. Man this this thing is MEAN Looking Compared to the Hotshot I now have. The 4 pipes I think were 2 1/2" and the thing just looks like a header built for a big V8. I had a few cracks that I could not get to weld so I got a hot shot off of Ebay.It was hell to install. I have a ruptured disk in my back and my friend was not that helpfull. After 4 hours I got it on. The O2 Sensor is the only thing that fits.I am not sure what the 2 other things are and what they do. I think the one clores in is something to do with EGR. Do I need this connected? The fitting on the header is smaller then the connector that goes in. The guy I bought it from had it pluged up. I put the plug back in and I am not sure what to do with the stuff that is left over. Do I need this? Can I take it off? Will it do anything for performance if removed? Now the third fiting was all the way in the back and it does not fit the header. The fitting on the header is smaller and I cannot get the piece to connect to the header. What is that thing anyway. Do I need that connected or can I plug it up like the EGR?I am sorry if I sound like an idiot but I really do not know that much about these things. I am going to a muffler shop pecause this header is longer and I need them to cut my exhaust. I was going to get them to plug the other hole or put a smaller fitting or do whater needed to get it fixed.SORRY SO LONGI guess I need to know what are the 2 other ports are on the header and do I need them?It sounds really bad now because I have just an open header with a big leak off the pipe in the back. Please help or give me suggestions of what to do. I might just weld my original header to fix its leek and sell the hotshot. I will post the picture of my original header in the AM. It makes the hotshot look like a baby. I live in Louisiana and do not have emmissions test so I can do whatever to get the most HP.T H A N K SPeabody

Hello,

There should be three fittings on the header, one for each of the following:

1. EGR2. AIV3. O2 sensor

I wouldn't recommend plugging the EGR port unless you get the ECU retuned as you will run rich and car will behave crappily. The AIV unit is a redundant emmissions system and a lot of people remove it and plug up the port on the header. I have. The O2 sensor is obvious.

You shouldn't have to cut anything if you got the header meant for your car. The Hotshot unit *should* replace the stock header and y-pipe all the way back to the catalytic converter. If you need to have something cut, then you don't have the right header for your model of car.

I hope that helps.

I got the correct header but the fittings on the header were smaller then the fittings to connect to them. They got the O2 in without any problems. What is the one called that goes to the Black Box? Because they had to weld the air tube to the header. Now my stearing sticks because the stearing knuckle is hitting the tube because it is in a differemt position. After driving today I started hearing an exhaust leak and that knuckle cut into the tube and now it leaks. I am thinking of going back and just have them plug it up if they cannot get it right. I got the header 1 year old off EBAY. When I got it they had a plug in that port. That is the one that is smaller copper tubbing then goes ito a rubber hose to the black box. Is that the AVI that can be pluged? My car is a 90 also. I had no problems with the 1st header but this one is a #$@$#. I hope they can get it right, if not I hope they did not mess things up when they welded it to the header without the fitting. Ireally want to know if that is the one I can remove without causing problems. I live in Louisians and do not have emissions testing. THANKS

The one to the black box can be plugged up, no problem. I didn't realize that your car was a 90. Since that's the case, and it uses a different motor than the 91 -> cars, I don't know exactly what's on the header or where the EGR and O2 plugs are. Sorry if I mislead you!!

the hole on the upper part(not the 02 sensor) goes to the EGR...the one on the bottom goes to the blackbox...i have an 89 so same motor.... i didnt seem to have much of a problem though...unless you got one for a later 240...big difference man...call hotshot and run the number!
