Hey everyone, I joined the forums to help troubleshoot some issues my girlfriend is having with her 2008 Versa, automatic. Here's what she e-mailed me today.

"Today on the drive to work my car started revving up 1000 rpm as it shifted from 2nd to 3rd. It has never done this before but it did it every single time this morning.

It's still also doing that vibrating steering wheel thing while braking, and once the vibrating stops the car kind of shudders until it's completely stopped."

My understanding is she recently had the brake fluid flushed and the steering wheel still vibrated while braking. So I put it on a lift and put new front rotors and pads on. For the first few days this seemed to do the trick as the steering wheel vibration was gone. Now she's experiencing this again. I'm going to put it on a lift this weekend and see if the rotors are warped but I'm pretty lost at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Might want to use a code reader to check what's going on with the drivetrain. How many miles are on this Versa? Any mods?

For the vibration issue, be sure to check each wheel and tire for damage. If you find anything suspecious, you may need to dismount the tire to see if the wheel itself is bent on either the front or back end.

Thanks for the response!

Turns out the revving issue was a one-time occurrence, maybe from the weather getting colder. No engine mods, ~60,000 miles.

She took it to the dealership today and the service writer said the material of the pads and rotors I put on (Powerslot rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads) are to blame. I explained that the symptoms have been felt both with the Nissan stock parts and the aftermarket parts. She passed the buck saying I can talk to the service manager tomorrow. My gf has a Nissan extended warranty (10/year, 100k) and they still charged her a $49 service fee without telling her this upfront.
