Need help with fluids

i just bought an 89 240sx se 5sp, and on the pass. side in the motor, there is a brass fluid holder with a little dip stick. What goes in there? also in the morning when is below 30, my car is hard to shift like the stick is frozin. if anyone can help, thanks alot.

could that brass fluid holder be your power steering fluid? Is the stuff in there red, and is the little dip stick on a black cap? if so it's your power steering. Also if it's hard to shift, warm up your car, the heat from the engine will carry over into the transmission since it's all metal and will conduct heat from the block through the transmission. give it a shot eh?

its just cuz its cold, thats it, its normal, just let it warm up a lil before driving, and yea thats ps fluid
