Need help with exhaust pipe to intake

There is a pipe that runs from the exhuast manifold around the back of the engine. What is this pipe and can I get rid of it?

that's the egr pipe. you can get rid of it if you get a block off plate and plug and dump the egr system. you can read about it with a search.

Did a search didn't really get much info from it but I'll go plug that little bugger up tomorrow.
