I have a 2000 AE Q45, 108,000

I replaced the spark plugs to something other than OEM, but still recommend spec but not the NGK

The q has been idiling very rough lately and an engine light has come on.

I have had a starting problem when I hear a high pitched almost reving sound when I go to start the q, but only occurs every 50 or more starts.

I also have the TCS and Slip lights coming on and staying on occasionally once in a while when I drive the car, seems to happen when the rough idiling comes, not sure why.

When I connected the OBDII code reader when the engine light came on the only code was P1320 Ignition Signal Primary.

Is this code related to the starting problem or the rough idiling? Is it possible that it is related to the spark plugs I replaced maybe before it was needed? or not sticking with NGK? or could the coils have been damaged when the plugs were changed?

Any help is very much appreciated, would like to get this Q back in to top running shape.

Not good! Autolite, Bosch and Champion have been documented to disintegrate in the VH series combustion chamber. OEM specified NGK PFRG only!

Replace those first and check all your connections on the way out.

And read your trunk sometime.

When you bring a vehicle to dealer, the first thing they do is read the OBDII codes and then look them up in FSM, then follow the step by step line by line trouble shooting directions to narrow down the defective component.

Why not do what dealer technicans do?

The FSM is laid out by OBDII CODES

Totally agree with finding out codes check the dealer they shouldnt charge you if you already know the code they should be able to look that up correct? Also I changed my spark plugs once and one I unfortunately didn't tighten one completely ran rough and eventually threw a code maybe see if theyre all tightened lame advice but ya never know

The comment about reading your trunk is supposed to be a joke...(I believe). Is simply because you misspelled Infinity (with a Y instead of I).Unfortunately that didn't help you with your issue....

The dealer should charge you for every second your vehicle is taking up space on his lot, for every minute you spend speaking with the service writer and for every minute the technican spends until you pay your bill and leave the facility.

The dealership is an independent business not a government welfare office which only has two sources of revenue: YOU or Nissan if under warranty.

Obviously those customers who spend a lot of money on paid services and repairs are treated better than the occasional visitor customer who shows up only when something is seriously wrong.

How much profit have you produced for your dealer last year?

I don't think you will see the letter "y" there.

The FSM details all codes.

At least take it to them ever once in a while for an oil change so they can see what might need replacing in the future, make sure you only deal with the Senior Infiniti Technician EVERY time.

I had the same problem, except for the high pitched rev. I also had P0330 code, I replaced both k.s. I first checked the resistance of the ign. coils according to th FSM, they all checked out good. I replaced the cam shaft sensor instead of following the diagnostic steps in the FSM, it was too dam cold out to go through the steps. After I finished replacing cam shaft sensor it still ran rough. I got cyl. 5 misfire code. That code disappeared after the car warmed up and got P1320 code again. I replaced ign. coil 5 with a used ign. coil and checked all the ign. coil harnesses on the drivers side according to the FSM. They checked out good. Car runs smooth now. The TCS and Slip lights are off now. I don not know why the TCS and Slip lights are on with code P1320. I currently have NGK BKRFEGP plugs. I will be replaceing all the ign. coils with new coils and replace the plugs with NGK PFRG.
