Hi just bought my Q45 2003 a few months ago from a nissan dealer in Houston. The DVD wasn't working and they told me it needed the disk. They would order it. Well when it finally arrived, it didn't work. I still get a error message that reads disk error. I finally got it to upload the new instructions today, but when changing out the dvd to the map, get the error again. The dealership in San Antonio says they want 4900 bucks to change out the system as they don't do any troubleshooting... So any ideas ?

Also as a aside... my bose sound system could be a LOT better, any ideas for making it sound better (sound quality is not to good, but speakers seem ok.. i think its just the power supply is crap)

Thanks.

How many miles you got? I think we have 5yr/50k bumper to bumper warranty.

According to Infinity, the warrenty expired 2 weeks ago.

I am pretty stupid, cause i had this for months, but not driving it much. and i figured I could fix it myself. No infinity dealer in my town.

It has around 34K miles. But its 4 year 60 K mile warrenty.

You can fight this. Sounds like they new it was broke before the warranty expired, since you bought it from them. Talk to the dealer some more and then call Infiniti and complain. Dealers love when you do this. Try to use a older Navigation disc in the mean time. Version 6.1 or 6.2 originally came with the car.

welcome to NICO. yes you can fight this. If the dealership you purchased it from don't want to be nice and just fix it, then call regional or corporate. Get everyones name written down (at the dealerships) who won't help you. I can pretty much bet you a dollar that will be enough. They knew it was effed up and tried to pass it off as something simple while the warranty ran out. This seems very unusual for Infiniti, almost shocking. The dealership you got it from owes you a repair and an appology. Don't roll over on this one.

Just to state some obvious stuff that might help...

I recently upgraded my DVD Navigation on my '02 Q45. Ordered the DVD from Zenrin directly. Came with 2 discs, a CD-ROM that had software and the DVD disk itself. Had to follow upgrade directions to load the software first; only then would it read the new DVD. Are you sure this has been done?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply's. Yes, I tried to install the operating disk first. After multiple times, I finally got it to load, then the disk error pop'd up again. I will try again to get the dealership to pay for this. It was a nissian dealership, not infinity.. but lol.. they are the same are they not ??thanks again. Bob

Hello,

I had an issue with an Infinity Dealership, and I contacted Infinity/Nissan Corporate office and filed a complaint and also told them I was going to contact the Better Business Bureu. Well then the dealership was now open to help me ajnd make everything right!. They do not like when corporate gets involved, so I will call them but make sure you have the names and dates. I can almost say for sure you will get this fixed by the dealer.Good Luck!

Call Infiniti Corporate and complain. Also, if the problem existed when you bought the car, you may have recourse against the selling dealer under used car lemon laws.
