Hey guy's, i was hoping that some of the guy's here might be able to help me with this. The VH45 isn't a comonly used engine in australia and i'm doing a conversion using this v8 and putting it in a silvia s13.The silvia was origionally CA18DE auto. I would like to keep the VH45 auto as its going to be my girlfriends car to drive around.I'm kinda hoping that because you guy's know this motor a lot better than most, that you may be able to help me out with these couple problems.

ok the Brake booster:basically the brake booster is way to big and the engine will foul it, now i was thinking about mooving the engine forward enough to clear the brake booster, but i'd prefer not to.. but this will then cause problems with teh steering shaft fouling anyway so i don't think its really an option.the next thing i thought of was using a clutch master and slave cylinder type setup to allow me to remote mount teh brake booster somewhere else... i.e mount a master cylinder directly to the firewall and then run a line to the remote mounted brake booster where a slave cylinder will then operate it... a lot of hassle, not 100% sure it will work...what i'd like to know is if there is any way of getting a big/good enough master cylinder that can be mounted directly to the firewall that doesn't need the brake booster there at all? or is there another brake booster that is a lot smaller and might fit??

Starter motor:basically the starter motor when mounted on the side of the motor fouls with teh steering shaft. all that is hitting the steering shaft is the little soleniod that is mounted on the side of the starter motor... basically what i want to know is if there is another starter motor that will fit or only need minor modifications to fit onto this motor that might have the soleniod mounted higher on the starter motor? obviously you guy's won't have this problem because your steering shaft is on the other side of hte engine.. but i was hoping you might have a few ideas.

i dont' really want to go to a manual, i'd prefer to keep it auto but i need to be able to mount the starter motor.

any idea's would be great.

here is picture of the steering shaft sitting right next to where the starter motor has to be bolted in.

Sell the VH45, buy a VH41, steering column clearance issue solved.

Already had the master/slave idea for remote mounting brake booster, more hassle than it's worth.

Find an early to mid 80s pulsar booster, they've got decent volume but are small diameter, and will bolt directly in place of the std booster. Run an expansion chamber between the plenum & the brake booster to make up for the lost volume due to the reduction in diameter.

Problems solved.
