Getting ready to order my new coilovers and up until now have been pretty set on PBM. But after tolling around online i stumbled across fortune autos coils.

They are certainly an attractive set of coils, but how well do they perform??

Anybody have any feedback for me?? Car will be daily driven but ride quality isnt a big deal for me. I want something thats going to perform and last.

All help is highly appreciated and i look forward to your responses. :bigthumb:

They are the best bang for the buck. I plan on getting a set for myself. I heard they are a bit stiff but nothing to really complain about.

A guy named Razi on here has some. Hopefully he will chime in. I'm looking at getting a set myself.

i have driven an s13 on fortunes, 7/6 setup...not too harshe as they were softened up damper wise. with the settings. got super low and handled well. any coilover setup will feel wonderful compared to old busted a** oem suspension but fortunes are some of the better options on that "around a grand" level of coils.
plus theyre pretty lol
i was very focused on pbm for a long time, wanted some badly...but ive since focused more on fortunes for my next setup on coilovers.

put it this way. if you buy them they wont dissapoint, but neither will pbm...its up to you.
theres also a toilet load of threads on this exact question made recently...lots of coil arguements and experiences. i suggest you read them.
if anything itll help you get an even better idea about the items if thats what you still need after this

Ive done a good bit of research, the fortunes just kind of popped up. My original plan was to go with all pbs arms as well. that was part of the attraction to pbms coils, along with the performance as well of course haha.

And i actually prefer a stiff suspension even on a daily. Even stock suspension would be an improvement over whats on the car. Previous owner cut tien s tech springs and i have 3 kyb gr struts one of which is blown and one stock s14 strut lol.

So far i have yet to read anything bad about them, and for 950 and you can order custom spring rates?? i may be changing my mind about the PBM.

Plus the fortunes will match my custom painted neon yellow Advans :naughty:

Still researching and still cant make a decision.

Since both offer pretty much the same options and performance im going to leave to this, Whos will last longer and...... WHO GOES LOWER!!??

And i prefer stiff setups so whos ride stiffer?? I know both have the option of custom spring rates but input would be awsome, as well as ideas as to what spring rates to run.

oh god just stop.
look both are stiff, both go low...very low. low enough so when maxed out you will not be able to go over the nice yellow speed bump at the bank.
its personal preference man, buy whatever the hell you want to buy. both are good setups, both are around the same price, both look good, both handle well, both adjust like mad.
BOTH will do what you want them to do.

if you want them any stiffer, go buy some megan tracks, cheaper with spring rates like 14/12 or some crap.

seriously man :squint:

not tryin to rub anyone the wrong way just wanted to get some feedback from people that hopefully had them, although yours is honestly the best information ive seen through all of my lurking. It was highly appreciated as well. Just wanted to know everything about both that i could before i spent the money

Out of the box, I would bet PSM coils go lower and ride stiffer than FAs.

Thats what ive was finding at first but now all the info has flip flopped and im reading that the FA will go stupid low and also have great factory backing and are only 125 a corner to rebuild.

Both are the same price and do the same thing so im still kinda back and forth.

Regardless of who i pick from im running 10 12 rates and im not to worried about being able to tuck seeing as how im only running 16x8 +34 wheels up front so i know i can go lower than needed on both. guess its just a matter of longevity now.

If you want stupid low and stupid stiff then you obviously don't care about handling, so just save your money and get megan tracks. Good quality, 12/10 rates, and $800... can't beat that :dblthumb:

yeah man, i agree...
from what youre looking for and the rates you want to run etc. pick up a set of megan tracks, theyre a few hundred cheaper, depends where you get them though, fully adjustable so they will go very low and they are durable too.
i bought a set of megan streets used and beat on...i put them on and seriously abused them, on all road types in va. so all weather conditions as well. they never rusted up, never seized up or blew out on me...and i put a ton of miles on them too, highway and city/town miles.
i sold the car like a year and a half later and they worked just as well as when i got them. you will read tons of pros and cons on all these coils here and on other sites, this is just my experience and oppinion with them.
i would consider the tracks as an alternative option if i were you.

I am looking for the best of both with handling as well as being able to fit my wheels nicley.

And i really appreciate all the input pj. I think im going top research some more and try and get a better idea of what i want. i still have to decide what brand of arms i would like to go with as well.

Going "stupid low" with our type of suspension will only make your car handle worse. Roll center, camber arc, bump steer all get completely screwed up when you slam the car and no amount of dampening adjustment or stiff spring rates are going to negate basic geometry. If thats not a big deal to you, then thats fine, nothing wrong with that. Most of us don't drive our cars hard enough to reap the benefits of perfect suspension geometry anyway. But don't say "oh I want better handling" in an attempt to sound more legit when what you really want is an attractive stance and flush wheel fitment. ;) [/friendly advice]

^Everything that SX said should cross your mind, OP.

With that said, PBM is crazy stiff for daily driving. To give you an idea, they feel like Tein's on full stiff when PBM is on full soft and that's saying something.

I've driven on Stance, Megan, Fortune Autos, PBM, and Teins. And I have to say that the coilover that you're looking for with the drop are Megan Tracks. They ride horribly and I clenched my a** when I drive around LA (pause)

I would say stay away from PBM and Megan because both are really horrible for daily driving but you want a 10 and 12K spring rate? yeah good luck driving that car around.

On the flip side, both PBM and Megan can take beatings on the track and they hold up nicely. They just really aren't for daily driving.

I actually ordered my coils yesterday, i went with the fortune autos. and im not lookin for super cool hella flush, i just didnt want to end up 4x4 ed on my little dinky 16s.

The stiffer spring rates wont be so bad because the roads in my area are retty good and like i said before im comin from cut drop springs so anything would be an improvement.
