Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while and finally decieded to sign up but now I'm having problems and not really sure where to start as I'm more of a Ford V8 guy :gapteeth: . Right now i'm getting p0011 and p0021. The truck intermittently falls on its face, almost as if its in limp mode then it eventually "wakes up", makes me nervous everytime I approach a hill.

It also recently started misfiring really bad so its now parked until I can look at it over the weekend. any help with the codes would be appreciated.

Those codes are intake valve timing control. You have a variable intake valve advance that's powered by engine oil pressure.
As the engine gets old, and oil pressure goes down, there's not enough pressure to activate the advance. I'd start by switching
from the standard 5W-30 to 10W-40 or 20W-50. But I think you have a second problem. Those codes shouldn't make it feel
like limp-home mode. You need to read the codes right after a limp-home episode..

Try following the component inspection procedure on page EC-178 of the factory service manual. If it fails, you'll need to replace your intake valve timing control solenoid valve; provide your VIN and I can give you an exact part number.

Try changing your fuel filter if it hasn't been changed within the last two years.

hey guys just a quick update on this. The truck developed a massive oil leak on the bank one valve cover and it was smoking like crazy after a few minutes of running so I folded and took it to the dealer. on top of that the a/c quit working, not to mention a couple weeks before all of this a coolant pipe developed a pinhole leak. I lost all the coolant and the truck overheated before i even noticed what was going on.

The dealer finally called and said I needed 4 o2 sensors, plugs, knock sensor and an intake and valve cover gasket for a price of only $1380, and that's just parts alone. I actually laughed at the guy when he told me this. In the end i had them change the gaskets and the plugs which came up to $317. They also said I needed a new compressor, condensor and evaporator to fix the a/c :bs: I took it an a/c guy I know and he said the compressor is done and nothing else seems to be wrong.

It seems like no matter how i take care of this pos truck something is always breaking, not to mention the 10mpg that it gets. I swear after i get it fixed, its gone!

Makes me wonder if you lost a power valve screw... if one came loose and was ingested it could cause damage to the engine. Whether it would cause the valve cover to leak like a sieve I'm unsure, but it could have led to your codes and poor mileage.

Sorry that you've had so many problems with your Pathfinder.

Unfortunately not. Pulling the upper intake manifold is fairly simple though.
