I own a 1998 240sx. I got a sr20 motor for practictlly nothing from my boss, well actualy for nothing( long story). I can see by the mounts, exh. manifold, water inlet and outlets, and dist. placement that is a RWD engine. Problem is boss got it from japan w/ a bunch of other motors, has no idea he had it, so he gave it to me. It has no intake, dist., harness, or ECU. It is stamped at the rear SR20 followed by some numbers and an alpha. I would like to tear this down and slowly rebuild it to replace my KA24de. Problem is all I know is that I have a SR20 JDM motor, but not what it realy came out of and what I am going to need. Can post pics if it well help anyone help me. Please help!!!Would realy like to do this right and with 3 kids cant afford to order the wrong parts. Thanks

Try posting those additional numbers and a pic (or a few) in the SR section.

Will post the pics and numbers tommorow. Thanks!. Other thing is this motor has a silver v/c cover and N/A exh. mainfold. Also I think it was a series of 6 numerical digits follwed by a W. But I will take pics and post. Thanks again!

If So...I Don't Think Your Plan Will Work.Sounds Like The Motor Out Of A G20 Or Something.

SR20DE / SR20VE Can't Remember Which One, But Know Their For FWD Layouts.

Thats what I thought at first but water inlet and outlet point forward of the motor, and dist. hole is at front left of the v/c cover not at rear. Again will post pics and again thanks! new to this sight and so far have gotten a great deal of info if not for this engine but for the next one.

Also exh. manifold exits towards rear of motor and does not "wrap under"

LOL. Will post as soon as I get home tommorow. Had a owner of a shop that works on only Nissan swaps in this area look at it today and he too was puzzled. Said something about a rare sr20 motor that was hard to find that was backed by a awd system.???? I build Scca Sm race cars but love my 240sx and would like to do something other that the standered swap like my last one, if I can. Again will take camera to work tommorow so that I can post the pics.

Sounds like you are describing a SR20DE out of a Silvia?

That was my second thought but I was under the belief that all silvias were turbo'd. if not please excuse my ingorance. Again this is my second 240 , first s13 w. comon swap by someone else and now s14 that I want to do myself. Doesnt help that I spend all day build Miata race cars...lol.

Trim wise, the Almighty slotted between the J's and Q's, offering options not available on J's, but not including all the standard features of Q's. The Almighty was purportedly offered as a "purer" form of the sports car. The only available engine was the naturally-aspirated SR20DE coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission.

Guess NA RWD Sr's Aren't As Rare As I Thought...

Ya but this is a 90's motor. Not out of an old car.

blue birds are fwd, that might be a datsun. some silvias were offered n/a, iirc there isn't any real potential for sr20de's. it is set up a little differently from the det's and some extra work is required to safely turbo them. throw it in if you feel like a project, but i think you will probably have more fun with the torque of the ka as opposed to the sr.

Depends on the DE. In FWD land, DEs can handle 12-15lbs without any internal work (depending on which DE you get). I think RWD DE's have similar compression and internal components, so I suspect they'd be in the same realm.

The subject of this thread sounds like a non-turbo Silvia engine. As some have stated, there were NA Silvias.
