Yesterday I purchased a cat-back exhaust system from an major online retailer. Normally listed at about $350, it was on sale for $65. I quickly purchased it with one day shipping. Received order confirmation. This morning, received shipping confirmation and tracking number. Great. But just now, I received an email stating a credit notice. Went to their website. Price was for exhaust was changed to $325. So apparently, it was a clerical mistake that they corrected, and they cancelled the order. However, what I want to know is, since I went through the proper steps of purchasing this product, which THEY had mistakingly listed for such a low price, and my card was charged and the product was shipped, shouldn't I still receive this product, and at that price?

I believe the short answer is no. All retailers have fine print disclaimers to cover this. Should they make an effort to honor it, as a matter of good customer service, I suppose so.

Rogue One is right. The retailer is under no obligation to sell you a product at ANY price.

Just because someone made a mistake, doesn't mean you get to gain from it. That's actually pretty messed up.

In fact, I have had a couple customers order something, and based on their email correspondence with me, I refund their money and tell them I don't have the product... I just don't want to deal with their inevitable BS. :)

If someone in front of you in line drops a $20 bill, do you think, "WOO, FREE BEER!" Not cool.

I wasn't trying to benefit from a mistake. I was actually just wondering about the hypotheticals in this situation, and what the liability would be on their part. Simply seeking knowledge. This company is actually one of the best with customer service, ever. I'm not going to be THAT guy.

Now if the company didn't catch the mistake until after shipping the merchandise, then tried to bill you for the difference, I believe you'd be within your rights to tell them to go pound sand.

Your query reminded me of the recent Walmart ebt fiasco. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/1 ... 99207.html

And just recently Delta Airline honored ticket screw-ups wherein the regular rate was $400, but were inadvertently sold for as little as $25.
