Alright......you have a big power wire grounding out. Assuming your talkin about the fused amp. There is a plastic insulator on the big wire going to the alternator. If the cable directly touches the alt. casing it will blow the fuse out. It is a fast burning fuse. It will normally blow before any of your smaller ones will blow because they are slow burn design. Its there to protect all of your goodies attached to any wire in the car. Try that. Im sure it is the problem. If not there are only a couple of other wire that can cause that.

what else could it be? The wire is completely disconnect and not touching any metal. The only wires on the alt. are the case ground and the plug. Will it still blow the fuse even though it is not touching metal?

Which fuse?(quanto amperage) You have a big power wire crossed or grounding out. Which harness are you using. What ignition setup. Is the alt. fuse enough to support the s13 or s14 alt? It should be Im just curious. Its normally a simple fix but its hard to find the problem. Can you get us any pics of wiring around the batt and alt? Also you never told us if you had any blown fuses in the car. Check everyone of them. More info on what you have checked and so on.

problem solved! That insulated wire blew the fuse even when it was not touching the case. I swapped the 240 harness for the sr and now all is well and I get reverse lights and speedo :P Hands are cut up but I happy knowing that i fixed it and it wasn't my car. THX
