need help with a camshaft question...

i got a quick question, can someone please explain what the difference in the degrees & steps for the intake/exhaust camshafts? for example, HKS makes some camshafts that are step 1 256, step 1 264, step 2 256, etc.

Degrees are a duration marker. Greater the duration the higher the cam's efficiency takes place in the power band.

The different steps are for different valvetrain mods (ie. some are for aftermarket springs, etc.) and involve different amounts of lift.

If you are making sub 350whp I'd suggest Tomei 256's, if you are wanting more than that then I'd suggest no more than the HKS Step 2 264's for a street car.
