Need help with a 89 Pickup 4cyl auto

I have a 89 2wd pickup and after romping on it for a little, it to die on me when i stopped at a stop sign. It starts up just fine, revs and everything but once put into any gear other than neutral or park, it dies after bogging really hard for like 1 sec.

When it died, to drive it home had to literally floor it, then shift into drive and just keep it floored, luckily it was all highway.

Any ideas of what it might be? it is my only way of transportation to school and its been really hard to get rides lately, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
