NEED HELP WITH 92 NISSAN 240SX COUPE

I just recently purchased this car and the guy said that he put a thermostat in the car but wasnt sure of what way to put it in, my dad is a mechanic and we cant find the info anywhere on how to put in, and also is the engine block different from a ka24e and a ka24de and is that really the only difference besides the sohc and the dohc engines in these cars
