I just purchased a 1987 200sx SE (with the V6 engine). I have a few minor 'issues' I need help with before I try to take it through inspection:
1.) The passenger side wiper does not work (seems somewhat common on the Sentra/200SX). The auto recyclers I called said they will sell me a "wiper transmission". Is that what I need? Or is there some other, cheaper way I can repair it? Additionally, if i do need the "wiper transmission", what is the process I would need to follow in order to replace the broken one?
2.) The orange SENSOR light is lit on my dash. I searched a few sites and saw various fixes. All say that it comes on at 30,000 mile intervals and can be reset. Some say the reset button is behind the passenger kick panel, while others suggest that the reset switch is under a panel near the steering wheel (I saw a 'speaker-like' panel under my steering wheel). Where can I locate the switch?
3.) The driver's window goes down fine, but does not come up unless I play with the switch for a little while. I'm assuming that's just the switch - correct?
4.) The idle is high - it stays around 1050 RPM, but has dropped down to about 900 RPM maybe once or twice. I believe that the idle should be around 750-800 RPM for a 5 speed - correct? If so, where is the idle screw?
5.) What type of spark plugs and gap do you recommend? I'm using NGK V-Power plugs on my Z and they made a HUGE difference. Only negative thing is they don't last too long. Any suggestions on plugs?
6.) The stock radio worked, partially, for about a day or so and now it just lights up and I get no sound. I've changed plenty of radios before, but is there anything special, or out of the ordinary with the wiring in these cars? Can I just get a simple wiring harness and dash install kit? I know that they don't make wiring harnesses for the older Z and was wondering if that's the same issue with the 200sx?
Well, I think that's about everything. Thanks in advance for your patience and taking the time to assist me. Take care.
