I'm looking to buy my first ever set of coilovers. I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx. It's NA, and it's a two seater.

I daily this car, and it rarely sees any track time. I'm looking to lower the car, but not slam it. I'm also looking for a little more quality than a cheap set of eBay coils, but I'm not looking for the most expensive coils out there either. I'd like a nice ride quality seeing as if my daily.

I'm trying to accomplish this for less than $1000. Feel free to reccomend any brand that meets these standards!

Now for my question:
I've narrowed my choices w/ my own research down to BC Racing ($998 shipped), but in my research have found that a lot of people reccomend the Tien coils over BC. Now I've found Tien FLEX's online for ~$700.

If I can save money and get better coils, then that's perfect, but you don't normally get more for less so does anyone have any insight that might help?!

Thanks,
Kyle O'Quinn

You need to consider that more is needed to use coilovers than just the coilovers...so you need more than a grand to get anything useful that might last.
Powertrix is your best Z32 choice for several reasons, mostly the price and service and info you get from Charles at Powertrix...you now have been told, you do what you must.

I have a 1991 TT that is not my daily. I purchased and have installed the Tein Flex Z's. I have had them for about a year now and I have no complaints on them thus far. Handles great and the ride is surprisingly smooth. They are currently set on 8 of 16 in terms of dampening. The main reason they are cheaper than most others out there are because you cannot rebuild them in any way. I have friends with Powertrix and BC and both have good things to say but they are def more expensive. Previous poster is also correct in saying that if you are looking to purchase coilovers, you will need additional parts to compensate for lowering your car. At a minimum, you will need new adjustable upper control arms for front and rear. If these are not replaced, you will end up eating up your tires due to camber therefore making your savings all for nothing. I went with Z1 Race FUCA's and SPL RUCA's. I did a good amount of research and for me the Flex Z set up worked best overall. No matter what you choose, be sure to replace the paper gaskets so they don't squeak, Note that Powertrix has great holiday and group buy sales periodically. Good Luck!

^^^^ Exactly right, and as for Tein you would need to get their better stuff which is priced near the other higher-quality brands to get the same bang for the buck.
IMO Powertrix is the best bet for the reasons I stated earlier, plus Charles has The BEST service in the industry which IMO is the most important factor with upgraded car parts.
Will the company back their product up to the limit, or not? Powertrix DOES, and I have experience with that.
